GENERAL MANAGER/STATION DIRECTOR
Delaware Public Media (DPM) is seeking a dynamic and visionary General Manager/Station Director to lead their growing statewide public media operation. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated and resourceful leader to manage the organization's overall operations. The General Manager/Station Director will oversee programming, production, marketing, listener engagement, and business operations. They will manage the nonprofit budget, build relationships with key community leaders, lead fundraising efforts, and maintain DPM's standing as the go-to source for local news and NPR programming.
Working alongside a dedicated team of 11, the selected candidate will guide the station's creative direction and lead growth and development initiatives. This includes expanding signal coverage, producing fund drives, enhancing digital presence, and ensuring financial sustainability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead day-to-day operations including programming, technical services, underwriting, marketing, social media, engagement, and finances
- Oversee programming growth, brand positioning, and content strategy
- Supervise team including Operations Manager, Advancement Director, and News Director
- Foster relationships with NPR, CPB, FCC, and other partners
- Manage fiscal health, budget, and revenue goals
- Provide board leadership and ensure mission alignment
- Advocate for ethical journalism, inclusivity, and community engagement
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated leadership experience in broadcast or nonprofit sector
- Strategic thinking and consensus-building ability
- Track record in nonprofit budgeting, fundraising, and strategic planning
- Deep understanding of public media's community role
- Executive-level communication skills
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant field, with 5+ years senior management experience
- Success in nonprofit media budgeting, fundraising, and team management
- Knowledge of public media programming, technology, and fiscal landscape
- Ability to execute organizational vision reflecting Delaware's diverse needs
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
