What We Need:
The Senior Employment Counsel is responsible for advising and being a trusted partner with business and HR leaders on a regular basis on all aspects of labor and employment.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide advice and counsel to human resources, business clients, and executives on a variety of employment and traditional labor matters, including discrimination, harassment, wage and hour laws, family and medical leave laws, and restrictive covenants, including as it relates to the union workforce.
  • Review and respond to labor and employment-related claims, including charges, complaints, and attorney demand letters.
  • Manage and support outside counsel in employment litigation matters in administrative agencies, courts, and arbitration.
  • Oversee the drafting of employment contracts and separation agreements, and provides advice regarding those transactions.
  • Interprets and advises business leaders related to appropriate handling of employee matters, including under collective bargaining agreements.
  • Assist with in-house development of processes and policies to handle current and potential employment law issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of employment law experience in top law firm and/or working as an in-house lawyer is required.
  • Possess and demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, facilitation, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision, independently and/or as a member of a project team.
  • Ability to multitask and to prioritize workload under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be detailed oriented - with strong attention to accuracy and problem solving. "Following-up until resolved" skills a must.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Juris Doctorate degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
  • Licensed member of a state bar in good standing.
  • Experience with California laws and regulations a plus.
